Andrew is an experienced amateur genealogist, specialising in difficult-to-solve problems. As well as creating family trees, Andrew also compiles histories of interesting buildings and assists other genealogists with their research. Examples of his work include:

• Locating the birth certificate of an illegitimate child from minimal and misleading information
• Reuniting WW1 medals, which turned up in Australia, with a living relative in the UK
• Discovering living relatives of an adopted child, where the birth mother refused contact
